ROLE SUMMARY:
Busch Agricultural Resources, the barley breeding and barley development research headquarters for Anheuser-Busch InBev, is seeking a Temporary Early Generation assistant to join our team. This position will report to the Prebreeding and Early Generation manager and will play a crucial role in our efforts to develop high-quality barley varieties for our growers, maltsters, and breweries worldwide. Busch Agricultural Resources is committed to using both traditional and genetic breeding techniques to develop innovative barley varieties that meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability. This is a temporary position with the potential for extension based on performance and business needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:
Assisting with crossing work, including emasculating, pollinating, and maintaining new barley populations.
Harvesting, processing, and cataloguing barley populations and lines in both greenhouse and field settings, ensuring accurate record-keeping and organization.
Conducting tissue sampling for genetic screening to support our breeding programs.
Planting and maintaining barley trials in the greenhouse, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
Assisting with other related tasks as assigned by the Prebreeding and Early Generation manager.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent; coursework or experience in agriculture, plant science, or a related field is preferred.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in greenhouse and field environments.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Familiarity with basic laboratory procedures and equipment is a plus.
Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
